A 23-year-old man Sacramento man was arrested today on suspicion of offenses involving child pornography.
Eric Montane-Darab was indicted last week by a federal grand jury and the indictment was unsealed today. The indictment of three other Sacramento-area men for child pornography offenses was announced Monday by the federal Department of Justice.
Montane-Darab was charged with distribution of obscene matter to a minor, receipt of child pornography, and coercion and enticement of a minor, according to a Department of Justice news release.
The indictment alleges that on July 3 and 4, 2010, Montane-Darab sent obscene material to a minor under the age of 16, and between Dec. 14 and 19, 2010, he received child pornography. The indictment also alleges that between Nov. 28 and Dec. 23, 2010, he coerced and enticed a minor to engage in sexual acts.
Montane-Darab pleaded not guilty today at his arraignment before U.S. Magistrate Judge Kendall J. Newman. He was released on $25,000 bond.
The case is a result of investigations by the Sacramento Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the California Department of Justice and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
