A custodian at California Middle School was placed on administrative leave today after he was arrested by Sacramento Police for a felony weapons charge.
Sacramento police Officer Laura Peck said police were asked to do a welfare check on 52-year-old Treymal Addison, who was described as being "distraught."
Officers found him at Land Park's Taylor's Market, where he is a regular customer. While searching him, they found some sort of weighted-knuckle glove in his backpack, Peck said.
California Middle School was briefly placed on a modified lockdown, a precautionary measure where the exterior of the school is given extra monitoring, but the school day wasn't interrupted.
Sacramento City Unified spokesman Gabe Ross said Addison was not on campus today.
Parents were notified by automated phone call.
Addison was arrested on suspicion of possessing an illegal weapon, a felony, and he was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
He is scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 5.
