A 42-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of taking part in a home-invasion robbery in the Arden-Arcade area earlier this month that ended with a maintenance man being shot in the face and hand.
Tammy Marie Ochoa is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. in Dept. 62. Sacramento Sheriff's deputies booked her Dec. 21 on charges of robbery, false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon and elder abuse.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the case to find Ochoa's alleged accomplices, including the suspected shooter, said Sheriff's spokesman Deputy Jason Ramos.
On Dec. 12, deputies were called to an apartment in the 800 block of Carro Drive just after 6 p.m.
A 70-year-old woman had answered the door to a younger woman who was asking to use the bathroom, when two men rushed in, pepper-sprayed the victim and began going through her apartment, Ramos said.
The older woman was the manager of seven or eight apartments in the area, and was known to accept rent payments in cash, Ramos said.
A man in his early 50s -- the maintenance man for the apartments -- heard the disturbance and went to check. The attackers dragged him into the apartment, pistol-whipped him and shot him twice, in the face and hand, Ramos said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Department at (916) 874-5115.
