A 70-year-old woman died this morning in a crash that closed a portion of Garden Highway through the early afternoon.
Sacramento Police Department spokesman Sgt. Andrew Pettit said the woman was traveling eastbound on Garden Highway near the Northgate-Arden Garden connector about 11:45 a.m., when she swerved into the westbound lane, colliding with a westbound vehicle.
The 70-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Pettit a medical condition may have contributed to the crash. The woman, whose name has not been released pending notification of family, was the only person in the vehicle.
The three occupants of the other vehicle were transported to area hospitals. Pettit said the driver, a woman in her 30s, suffered serious injuries, and another woman, in her 20s, sustained moderate injuries. The third passenger, an infant, was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, Pettit said.
