Arrest made in connection with weekend copper theft

Wadleigh.jpgSacramento County sheriff's deputies have arrested a man after finding several thousand dollars worth of stolen copper wiring in the vehicle he was driving.

About 1:30 this morning, deputies stopped a vehicle driven by Jeffery Wadleigh (pictured), 48, near Bradshaw and Goethe roads. A search of the vehicle turned up copper wiring that, on further investigation, was determined to have been stolen from a local construction business over the weekend, according to a Sheriff's Department news release.

In addition to the value of the wire, damage to the business property was estimated at several thousand dollars, officials said.

Wadleigh was booked into Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of possession of stolen property and a parole violation. His bail was set at $200,000.
