Humboldt man arrested following Davis bank robbery

A Humboldt County man was arrested this morning, shortly after he allegedly robbed a Chase Bank branch in Davis.

Police were dispatched to the bank at 330 E St. about 9:24 a.m. regarding a robbery. Officers were told that a man entered the bank and passed a note to one of the tellers stating that he wanted money and that he had a gun. Bank employees did not see a gun, but the teller complied with the demand and the man walked out of the back with an undisclosed amount of currency, according to a Davis Police Department news release.

A bank employee followed the man to his vehicle, which was parked nearby. The employee then called police and provided a description of the man and the vehicle.

A Davis officer on routine patrol heard the call and spotted the car leaving the Davis area. The officer followed the vehicle to West Sacramento, where he made a vehicle stop. Officials said the suspect surrendered without incident.

The man was identified as Paul Michael Schmeer, 29. He was subsequently booked into Yolo County Jail on suspicion of robbery.
