Officials suspect homicide in death of man near Plumas Lake

Yuba County sheriff's officials say a man whose body was found beside Union Pacific Railroad tracks near Plumas Lake on Monday was likely the victim of a homicide.

The Sheriff's Department today identified the man as Kevin Cody Stratton, 25, who was a transient.

Union Pacific employees found the body about 7 a.m. Monday.

An autopsy conducted Wednesday indicated that Stratton's death was likely a homicide, according to a Sheriff's Department news release.

Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the death. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Department at (530) 749-7777.
