Sacramento Police have arrested a man suspected of robbing or attempting to rob four businesses in the last two days.
Police spokesman Sgt. Andrew Pettit said the man, described as white and in his 30s, was taken to police headquarters for questioning. Detectives are withholding his name while they conduct their investigation, Pettit said.
Pettit said the man went to the Rite Aid store at 2211 F St. about 11:20 a.m. today and presented a note to a clerk. The note stated that there were people who were going to hurt his family if he didn't give them money.
Failing to get any money at Rite Aid, the man went to Peet's Coffee on Alhambra Boulevard and presented a note with the same message. Pettit said Peet's Coffee employees activated an alarm. Officers, who were in the area, responded and took the suspect into custody.
He is believed to be the same person who presented similar notes to clerks at Vic's Market on South Land Park Drive and a Rite Aid store in the 4900 block of Freeport Boulevard on Wednesday morning.
The cashier at Vic's Market told the man she didn't have much money in her drawer and he left without receiving any cash. He was given money at the Rite Aid store.
