Body found in American River under Foresthill Bridge

By Robert D. Dávila

The Placer County coroner is seeking help identifying a man whose body was found in the American River beneath the Foresthill Bridge.

A hiker called the Sheriff's Office at around 11 a.m. Tuesday to report that she saw a body floating in the water directly under the bridge, officials said. The body was recovered with assistance from the sheriff's dive team and helicopter.

The body was described as a white male in his late 20s to early 40s, about 5-feet, 5-inches tall and weighing 169 pounds. The unidentified man has a receeding hairline, hazel eyes and a full beard, and he was wearing blue pants and a dark-colored T-shirt with a circular design and "Grateful Dead" written in red and green letters.

Anyone who may know the identity of this man is urged to contact the Placer County coroner's office at (530) 889-7879.
