Man hit by UP train near Arden Way is identified

A 42-year-old man was found dead after he was hit last night by a Union Pacific train on railroad tracks south of the Arden Way overpass, officials said.

The Sacramento County coroner's office identified the man as Dagan Levon Dukes, whom officials said may have been homeless.

Train workers reported they stopped the train after hitting an unknown object and discovered the body around 10:15 p.m. Thursday, Sacramento police Sgt. Andrew Pettit said. The accident is being investigated by Union Pacific authorities, Pettit said.
