Man jailed following stabbing at Auburn-area motel

threadgill jeffrey lee.jpgA man described as an Auburn-area transient is being held in Placer County jail without bail after allegedly stabbing a man Tuesday night.

Jeffrey Lee Threadgill (pictured), 45, was arrested shortly after the stabbing was reported about 5:10 p.m. at the Foothills Motel.

The 32-year-old victim, who was staying at the motel, encountered Threadgill and an argument ensued, according to a Sheriff's Department news release. Threadgill allegedly pulled out a red-handled knife and slashed the victim's left arm, causing a large, deep gash. The victim ran to the motel office and asked the clerk to call 911.

Threadgill fled, but a sheriff's sergeant en route to the motel spotted him walking along Luther Road. The sergeant had pulled up a photo of the suspect on his in-car computer and recognized the man as the suspect, officials said. Threadgill was taken into custody without incident.

The victim was taken to Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital for treatment.

Threadgill was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, making threats and parole violation.
