Man wounded in shooting at Carmichael apartment complex

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department is searching for suspects in the shooting of a man at a Carmichael apartment complex this evening.

Sheriff's spokesman Deputy Jason Ramos said calls began coming in about 7:50 p.m. reporting numerous gunshots at apartments at 4800 Marconi Ave. and that a man was down inside the complex.

Ramos said deputies found a 32-year-old black man on a stairway with at least two gunshot wounds to his upper body. The man was taken to a hospital, where he was undergoing surgery.

The only suspect information was provided by a caller who reported seeing two males and a female running from the area shortly after the shooting, Ramos said.

He said the Sheriff's Department set up a perimeter and deputies were canvassing the area, but as of about 9:45 p.m., no suspects had been located.
