Nanny interrupts burglary at Folsom home; suspect arrested

Andrew Christian Heltmeyer.jpgA nanny surprised a burglar when she arrived at her employer's Folsom home early this afternoon.

When the nanny entered the house on Fratis Street in Folsom's Prairie Oaks neighborhood, she heard a noise in the back of the residence, according to a Folsom Police Department news release. She called out to her employer, but received no answer.

A short time later, the employer arrived home, and after the nanny told him about the noise, he began checking the house. Just as the homeowner realized he had been burglarized, he and the nanny encountered a man, who fled out the sliding door at the rear of the home.

A nearby homeowner chased the man after the suspect tried to break into his home to avoid arriving police officers.

Police captured the suspect, identified as Andrew Christian Heitmeyer (pictured), 23, of Folsom, and arrested him after an investigation linked him to the burglary. Heitmeyer was booked into Sacramento County Jail on one count of burglary and is being held in lieu of $130,000 bail.
