Sheriff's unit joins Sacramento Boys and Girls Club in Friday 'Unity for Youth' event

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department's Youth Services Unit will join with the Boys and Girls Club in a "Unity for Youth" event on Friday.

The event, offered free of charge and open to the public, will be held from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club, Greater Sacramento Teichert Branch, at 5212 Lemon Hill Ave., Sacramento.

It will feature a variety of activities, including prize drawings, bounce houses, carnival games, face painting and K-9 units.

The Youth Services Unit is a newly formed part of the Sheriff's Impact Division. It is dedicated to developing partnerships with schools, community and faith-based organizations, businesses and nonprofit groups to address issues of youth violence and delinquency, according to a Sheriff's Office news release.

The Unity for Youth event is sponsored in part by the University of Phoenix, Walmart and the Sacramento Sheriff's Toy Project.
