A Yuba City plumbing and pipefitters union treasurer and his wife pleaded guilty Friday to misappropriating at least $120,000 for personal use, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's office.

Robert L. Carr, 57, was secretary-treasurer and business manager for Local 228, and his wife Theresa Ann Carr, 54, was an employee of the union.

They wrote checks for unauthorized salary advances, bonuses and reimbursements, according to court documents cited by the news release.

They also used union checks and credit cards for clothing, sporting goods, jewelry, lodging concert tickets and lingerie for themselves.

They may be sentenced to up to five years in prison with a fine of up to $250,000 for each violation.
