A candlelight vigil is scheduled for tonight in Sacramento for a missing 15-year-old Northern California girl who disappeared last week on her way to school.
Sierra Lamar has been missing since she left her Morgan Hill home Friday morning. Her disappearance has been the subject of national attention.
The girl has relatives in the Sacramento area, including a cousin, and at least 75 people are expected tonight at 7 p.m. at Fremont Presbyterian Church, 5770 Carlson Drive.
The gathering will be in the youth room of the Community Life Center. The public is invited.
Family members will attend. Posters will be available to sign to present to the family.
Wire service reports indicate that the girl's phone was found on the side of a road more than three-quarters of a mile from her home. It also appeared that the phone may have been tossed out of a vehicle, police said.
Sierra's family reported her missing Friday afternoon after last seeing her around 6 a.m. when was she heading off to high school, according to Associated Press. She never made it to class or back to her home in Morgan Hill, about 20 miles south of San Jose.
Police have said there is no evidence to show that she had a troubled home life or had planned to run away.
