The Sacramento County coroner's office today has released the name of a man who was fatally shot last night in the south Sacramento area.
He was identified as Antonio Jordan, 41, of Sacramento.
Deputy Jason Ramos said numerous calls were received shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday reporting 10 to 15 shots fired in the 8100 block of Ingleside Way near Power Inn and Gerber roads.
No one reported seeing suspects or vehicles in the area, but one woman looked out her window and saw a man lying next to a vehicle across the street.
Ramos said deputies found Jordan's body in the driveway of his home. He had been shot multiple times in the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
No one was inside the victim's home at the time of the shooting, Ramos said.
Deputies canvassed the neighborhood in an attempt to find out more about the shooting but have learned little about what happened, Ramos said.
Detectives have delved into the man's life, but so far have no strong leads, Ramos said. Sacramento Superior Court records indicate Jordan had a lengthy criminal history; however, his most recent case - a misdemeanor driving under the influence charge - dates back to 2003.
Ramos said detectives are struggling for clues in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the homicide bureau at (916) 874-5115. Tipsters may also call Crime Alert at (916) 443-4357. Callers to Crime Alert may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
