Ex-American River College student killed in India

Newspapers in India are reporting that a woman who once attended American River College has been killed in that country by her fiancé.

Paimana Khanjar, 22, allegedly was stabbed to death by her fiancé at a residence in the Jungpura area south of Delhi last Saturday night. Her fiancé, Omid Milad Hussain Khill, has been taken into custody.

The young woman, said to be an American citizen of Afghan heritage, began attending American River College in 2008, last attending classes in 2011, college officials said. She also was on a wait-list for a class this spring.

Her fiancé was an Afghan who was studying in Russia. The two, reported to have been engaged for three years, met to talk things over in Delhi.

Police told the Hindustan Times that Khanjar was not interested in marrying Khill. Khill asked to meet her to discuss the matter.

The Times of India reported that Khill stabbed Khanjar and he was later arrested minutes before he was to board a flight to Kabul.
