The man who slugged a mentally ill woman while mugging for a pal shooting a videotape in south Sacramento last year was sentenced today to 240 days in county jail and five years probation.
Sacramento Superior Court Judge Kevin J. McCormick imposed the term on Rasaan Ali Zawadi, 21, for the defendant's Feb. 9 plea to a single count of felony assault.
Zawadi, who is no longer in custody, had served 120 days after his arrest for the Oct. 1 filmed assault. McCormick gave him credit for 120 additional days.
McCormick also ordered Zawadi to stay three miles away from Eric's Donuts on Mack Road at Center Parkway. It was the site where he and co-defendant Donnell Damone Wade attacked the woman.
The judge gave Zawadi an additional 60 days on electronic monitoring for a separate case in which he was charged with possession of marijuana for sale.
Wade, 19, is scheduled to be sentenced by McCormick on March 23.
