Jury convicts man of murder in stabbing death of his grandfather

A Sacramento Superior Court jury today convicted Arondrei Abel-Bey of first-degree murder in the Jan. 18, 2011, stabbing death of his 83-year-old grandfather, Isaac Williams.

Abel-Bey, 34, had initially reported to police that his grandfather was killed during a burglary of the victim's home near 64th Avenue and Amherst Street. Abel-Bey testified in his own defense he had been under the influence of methamphetamine when he choked and stabbed his grandfather.

Judge Helena R. Gweon scheduled Abel-Bey's sentencing for April 13.
