The Sacramento Sheriff's department took a murder suspect wanted in Louisiana into custody early this morning.
Marcus Heard, 40, wanted for murder in Baton Rouge, La., peacefully surrendered this morning when he walked out of an apartment in the 5900 block of Devecchi Avenue near Greenback Lane and Interstate 80.
The sheriff's department dispatch center was tipped off by an anonymous female who called at 12:30 a.m. today to say that Heard was wanted for murder in Baton Rouge. She also supplied the address of the apartment on Devecchi Avenue.
After contacting authorities in Baton Rouge to confirm an outstanding warrant for Heard, deputies surrounded the apartment. At 2:30 a.m., Heard stepped out of the apartment and identified himself to deputies.
He was booked into Sacramento County Jail, prior to extradition to Louisiana.
