Stabbing victim in Redding defends himself with skateboard

Redding police arrested a 30-year-old man from Hat Creek in connection with a stabbing during an altercation at a party just after midnight today.

Police arrived at the intersection of 10th and West streets around 12:30 a.m. and found the stabbing victim, Steven Brian Davis, 28, chasing Joshua Lee Davis, 30, of Hat Creek,.

The two men are not related, police said

An investigation indicated that Joshua Davis and another man attempted to assault people at a party in the 1900 block of 10th Street.

Steven Davis said Joshua Davis stabbed him in the arm, but he was able to prevent further injury using a skateboard.

The two suspects fled, pursued by party-goers.

Joshua Davis was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

The second suspect, who was not located, was described as a Native American male in a gray sweatshirt and baggy pants.

Steven Davis refused medical treatment for his wound, which was described as minor.
