A man suspected of the April 4 robbery of the Olivehurst Mini-Mart is in Sacramento County Jail.
Yuba County sheriff's investigators believe that John Xiong, 29, of LInda entered the market and fired a shot from a handgun before leaving with cash, according to a Yuba County Sheriff's Office news release. Officials said Xiong was identified through surveillance video and other physical evidence.
Xiong was arrested by police April 5 in Sacramento after he allegedly committed a similar offense there. Sheriff's officials said they believe the weapon used in the Olivehurst robbery has been recovered.
According Sacramento County Jail online records, Xiong is accused of robbery, possession of a firearm by a felon and buying or receiving stolen property.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Xiong in connection with the Olivehurst robbery, and Yuba County officials are working with other area law enforcement agencies to identify any similar offenses or accomplices, according the news release.
