The California Highway Patrol reports all lanes of eastbound Capitol City Freeway near Arden Way are now open.
The freeway in the eastbound direction closed about 4:30 a.m due to a traffic accident that involved the death of a motorcyclist. All lanes re-opened about 10 a.m.
The motorcyclist traveling on wet freeway pavement eastbound near Arden Way fell off his motorcycle for unknown reasons, witnesses told the California Highway Patrol.
The motorcycle continued for some distance. A passing big rig was not able to avoid the body of the 52-year-old Sacramento area motorcyclist.
His body was dragged about 100 feet. The freeway had to be closed for the coroner to recover the body and for crews to clean up the scene.
During closure of the freeway, traffic was detoured at Arden Way and then allowed to re-enter the freeway a short distance away.
