Davis police seek suspect in sexual battery case

Davis police are looking for a man in connection with a sexual battery incident that occurred early Sunday.

A 23-year-old Davis woman was walking north on L Street in the area of Eighth Street about 1 a.m. when a man she did not know approached her from behind and put his arm around her waist. The woman pulled away and ran to the other side of the street. But the man again approached her and placed his hand up her skirt, according to a Police Department news release.

The woman was able to get away from the man, who then fled on a bicycle north on L Street.

The man was described as Latino, 20 to 30 years old, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a medium build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, with the hood covering most of his face.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call the Davis Police Department, (530) 747-5400.

Police encourage people to be aware of their surroundings when they are out and about. They recommend carrying a cell phone and calling police if any suspicious activity is observed.
