California Highway Patrol officers said the same man ran the same stop sign at the same intersection and again ended up in a ditch both times - the copycat crashes coming within a week of each other.
In addition, he was suspected by officers of driving under the influence on each occasion.
On May 2 about 2 a.m., according to a CHP press release, Marc M. Riendeau, 30, of Plumas Lake, was driving a Buick south on Griffith Avenue when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the T intersection of Erle Road. Riendeau continued through the intersection and hit a ditch, overturned and landed in a rice field.
He suffered cuts to his head. He was also arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.
