Funeral services today for Sacramento firefighter

Funeral services for Sacramento firefighter William Porter will be held this morning in Elk Grove.
Traffic could be fairly heavy as firefighters from around the region gather at 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church, 8939 East Stockton Blvd.

Porter's body was recovered May 21 from Camp Far West Lake near Wheatland. He was reported missing when he didn't return from a fishing trip May 9 at the reservoir.

Porter, 58, was assigned as a fire engine driver at Station 6 in Oak Park. He joined the department in 2002, and also played a role with an urban search and rescue team as a logistics manager and transportation specialist.
