Man convicted in stalking assault at former judge's home

Parlante+Image.jpgA Sacramento jury convicted a man Wednesday of stalking a former juvenile dependency court referee and assaulting two of his children by driving a van at them at their Rancho Cordova home.

John Thomas Parlante, 46, will be sentenced June 27 for the Feb. 17 incident at the residence of the former referee, Daniel Madden Horton. Authorities believe Parlante was upset at the Horton for a ruling in a child dependency matter.

The assault took place a day after local news agencies reported that Madden had been arrested on misdemeanor charges of enticing underage girls to strip for an adult magazine.

Nobody was injured because sheriff's detectives who were serving a search warrant on Madden's residence thwarted Parlante -- who had an axe in his car -- before he made contact with anybody.
