Two juries convict men in Rancho Cordova triple murder

Two Sacramento Superior Court juries returned first-degree murder convictions today against two street gang members in the shooting deaths of three bicyclists last year in Rancho Cordova.

Judge Helena R. Gweon set a June 22 sentencing date for defendants Saul Isidro-Aucencio, 25, and Francisco Ignacio Delgado, 21. The two face life in prison with no chance of parole on the juries' special-circumstance findings that the pair committed the Feb. 13, 2011, drive-by, multiple murders of Robert Corpos, 20, Richard Ward, 16, and Jamir Miller, 15.

According to evidence at trial, Isidro-Aucencio had been assaulted in an apartment complex earlier in the day. In retaliation, Isidro-Aucencio, armed himself with an AK-47 assault rifle, and he and Delgado got in a car and hunted down their victims in the 10100 block of Malaga Way. The three who were shot had nothing to do with the earlier attack on Isidro-Aucencio.
