Bee reporters answer questions about area crime news, trends and other issues.
QUESTION: There were a few murders in Foresthill in the early '90s. I believe one of them was a couple shot execution style in their own home on Foresthill Road, possibly a drug deal gone bad. Can you tell me the circumstances of the crime and outcome?

ANSWER: The bodies of Bonnie Irene Hall, 50, and her husband John Frederick Hall, 57, were found in the bedroom of their Foresthill Road home in August 1990.
According to stories in The Bee, Bonnie Hall had been shot several times in the head and John Hall had been shot once in the head. Both had been shot at close range.
Authorities believe the two were shot at least 24 hours before they were discovered by Bonnie Hall's 27-year-old son when he went to the house about 11 a.m. Aug. 16.
John Hall, who was disabled, ran an automotive painting business at the house, and his wife was a homemaker.
Placer County authorities said both had a prior conviction for cultivation of marijuana and had been recently arrested on another drug charge.
A $5,000 reward was offered at the time through the Secret Witness program for information leading to arrests and/or convictions in the case.
