The Yolo County Coroner's Office has identified the three men killed Friday morning in a crash on Interstate 80 in Davis.
They were identified on Saturday as Darius Austin Powe-Reed, 20, Zan Djavan Lockhart, 20, and Lavell Elmore, 30, said Robert LaBrash, Yolo County chief deputy coroner.
Powe-Reed and Lockhart were from Sacramento. Elmore was from Elk Grove.
California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer Bryan Konvalin said the crash occurred about 10:25 a.m. just east of the Richards Boulevard offramp.
Powe-Reed was driving a Budget rental box truck in the center eastbound lane when he attempted to merge left and collided with a Mistubishi Montero sport-utility vehicle.
Konvalin said the truck then veered to the right and ran off the roadway where it struck a tree.
All three men in the truck were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Montero, who was alone in his vehicle, was not injured.
