A fire in south Placer County has been contained after burning 184 acres west of Roseville.
Daniel Berlant, a spokesman for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said the fire was reported at 1:23 p.m., burning in a flat, undeveloped area of grasslands in the area of Fiddyment Road and Athens Avenue.
Thirteen fire engines, two water tenders and a bulldozer responded to the scene. Berlant said Cal Fire and the South Placer County firefighters were assisted by firefighters from Roseville, Rocklin and Lincoln.
Although the cause of the fire has not been determined, he said this is a reminder to residents to use caution in outdoor activities, especially given the forecast for strong winds and temperatures in the 100-degree range this weekend.
