Redding police arrest suspect in shooting; seeking another

Redding police have arrested one suspect are asking for help in locating another in a shooting Thursday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Redding Police Department department, witnesses saw two men chasing Ryan James Hunt, 18, through South City Park in Redding around 3:20 yesterday. The men tripped Hunt and began to kick him, then one of the men pulled a handgun from his waistband and shot Hunt in the mouth, the department said.

Police have apprehended Redding resident Tristan Daniel Almond, 22, who they believe was the shooter, said Redding Police Cpl. Chris Jacoby. They are still seeking the other assailant, described as a white or Latino man in his 20s, 6-foot-1, having a thin build and brown hair cut short on the sides and longer on the top.

A $1,000 reward is offered for information leading to the capture of the suspect. Anyone with information should call Shasta County Victim Witness (530) 225-5220 or the Redding Police Department's Investigations Division at (530) 225-4214.
