The Sutter County Sheriff's Department was assisted by local farmers and a California Highway Patrol helicopter in a search that ended in the arrest of three suspects in a residential burglary.
About 1:30 p.m. Monday, sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a home in the 4400 block of Riego Road in Pleasant Grove. A witness reported seeing the suspects get into a 1999 Acura and leave the area. The driver, however, lost control of the vehicle, rolling it into a field, and the suspects ran away on foot, according to a Sheriff's Department news release.
Deputies, with the help of a CHP helicopter and area farmers, searched the area and later located the suspects hiding in a drainage ditch near West Catlett and Vernon roads. The three suspects, all from Sacramento, were taken to Rideout Hospital with minor injuries related to the vehicle crash.
Officials said deputies recovered miscellaneous jewelry with a value of approximately $2,000.
Arrested were Gabriel Urbieta, 45, on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy, destroying or concealing evidence, hit and run, and resisting arrest; Joshua Dillon Urbieta, 20, on suspicion of conspiracy, destroying or concealing evidence, and leaving the scene of an accident; and Monica Renee Arevalo, 45, on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy, destroying or concealing evidence, resisting arrest and leaving the scene of an accident.
All were booked into Sutter County Jail.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at (530) 822-7307 or "Leave a Tip" on the sheriff's website at www.suttersheriff.org.
