A 14-year-old girl was pulled from the Sacramento River this afternoon and rushed to UC Davis Medical Center, according to the Sacramento Metro Fire Department. Her condition was unknown.
Firefighters received a 911 call at 3:07 p.m. from Miller Park Marina reporting that the teen had possibly been underwater for several minutes.
By the time a water rescue crew, engine company and paramedics had reached the scene, the teen had been pulled from the water by bystanders who were celebrating Father's Day at the river. Emergency personnel administered CPR, then transported her to the hospital.
The incident was a reminder of the river's inherent danger, said rescue crews. On hot days, the cold water is inviting, but swimmers and boaters of all ages should wear life jackets.
