A teenager was shot in the stomach after an argument on the street last night in Elk Grove, police said.
The youth's wounds did not appear to be life-threatening.
Police were called about 11:15 p.m. Thursday to a home in the 7000 block of Verdure Way near Bruceville Road and Laguna Boulevard. The caller said her 18-year-old brother had been shot and he was being taken to the hospital by their mother.
Deputies responded to the hospital where the boy was treated for gunshot wounds to his mid-section and forearm. Officers learned that the shooting had happened near the intersection of Springmont Drive and Plume Way, about a block from the victim's home.
Police found evidence of the shooting and a trail of blood to the victim's home on Verdure Way.
Officers canvassed the area and now believe that the teen was shot after an argument with two or three other males. The shooting suspects were seen leaving the area in a four-door vehicle.
Detectives have not established a motive for the shooting.
