Three-vehicle accident snarls I-80 traffic in Rocklin

By Debbie Arrington

Just as many weekend travelers were returning home Sunday night, a major accident closed Interstate 80 in both directions just west of Rocklin Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, an eastbound vehicle went over the center divider into westbound lanes shortly after 8:30 p.m. At least three vehicles were involved in the wreck, including one rollover.

The CHP issued a Sigalert as traffic came to a complete halt in both directions for more than a half hour. By 9:05 p.m., one lane of westbound traffic was reopened. All but one of the eastbound lanes also were reopened to traffic. The Rocklin Road on-ramp to westbound I-80 was closed as CHP officers investigated.
