Bee reporters answer questions about area crime news, trends and other issues.
QUESTION: Sometime between 2009 and the present there was a young man named Marcos that was arrested for pimping young girls in the Sacramento area. He was in jail last time I knew. Is he still there and for how long?

ANSWER: You may be referring to Marquist Piere Bradford, 26, who faces federal charges of child sex trafficking.
According to a story in The Bee, Bradford entered a not-guilty plea in federal court in Sacramento in May and was ordered jailed without bail.
According to a grand jury indictment, he persuaded a 15-year-old girl to travel from Fresno to Sacramento, where he used her as part of his prostitution business earlier this year. He is accused of maintaining an apartment in Rancho Cordova as a base for his pimping operation.
Authorities said Bradford fled to the Chicago area after law enforcement recovered the 15-year-old victim. He was arrested in Illinois and returned to Sacramento.
He remains in Sacramento County Jail awaiting trial. According to online court records, his next court date is July 19.
