QUESTION: What became of Dennis Mains, convicted for murdering his wife, Pamela Wales?
Submitted by: Brian, Carmichael
ANSWER: Dennis Robert Mains was sentenced in March 2011 to 50 years to life in prison for killing his wife.
According to stories in The Bee, Mains shot Pamela Wales, 61, twice in the head April 25, 2008, as she slept in the guest house the couple shared behind her daughter's home on Jana Maria Court in Citrus Heights.
Prosecutors said Mains killed his wife because she wanted to divorce him.
Mains pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, but a Sacramento County jury determined that he was sane when he shot his wife and convicted him of first-degree murder.
Mains, 62, is in Mule Creek State Prison in Ione.
