ANSWER: Douglas Randall Carlyle was arrested in November 1999 at his home in the Arden Arcade area.
The arrest followed a six-month probe into the slaying of David Eugene Duke, 37, of Citrus Heights. Duke's decomposed body was found April 24 on a hillside in an area off Highway 50 near Ice House Road in El Dorado County.
Investigators said Duke was shot and his body dumped in the wilderness. It took authorities a month to identify the body.
An El Dorado County jury in November 2000 found Carlyle guilty of voluntary manslaughter. He was sentenced to 21 years in state prison.
According to newspaper accounts, Carlyle and Duke were friends who became involved in a sex-for-drugs relationship, and Carlyle shot Duke in the head after an argument.
Carlyle, now 49, is incarcerated at the California Rehabilitation Center in Norco.
