QUESTION: When and where was Tom Daniels, the Rio Linda Baptist Church preacher, sentenced to do his time?
Submitted by: Cathi, Antelope
ANSWER: Tommy Gene Daniels was sentenced March 2 to 158 years to life in prison and is incarcerated at California State Prison, Corcoran.
Daniels, 49, pastor of First Baptist Church of Rio Lnda, was convicted by a Sacramento County jury in December on 11 counts of molesting five girls between the ages of 5 and 13 at his Citrus Heights home, beginning in December 2002.
According to stories in The Bee, four of the girls had exhibited prior problematic behavior and had been placed in a "respite" program at the Daniels' residence. The fifth was a child whose working parents needed a baby sitter.
Sacramento Superior Court Judge Trena H. Burger-Plavan sentenced Daniels to eight years on the first count and 10 consecutive 15-year-to-life terms for the other counts on the special allegation that he had molested multiple victims.
