Carwashes, BBQs organized to raise money for 3-year-old shooting victim's funeral costs

Two car washes and barbeques are scheduled for this weekend to raise money for the funeral of the 3-year-old boy killed in a drive-by shooting Wednesday night.

Jorge Azios was shot multiple times after an assailant fired more than a dozen rounds into the car he was riding in, driven by his 22-year-old father. They were headed westbound on Loucreta Drive near Palmer House Drive in the Florin area when the shooting occurred shortly before 11 p.m.

His father rushed him to a local hospital, where the boy was pronounced dead. Detectives suspect the shooting was gang-related.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department has made no arrests and has asked for the public's help in identifying a suspect and a suspect vehicle.

A car wash and barbeque will be held at Maple Elementary School, 3301 37th Ave. in Sacramento, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and again from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. All proceeds will go toward funeral expenses, said Felicia Gutierrez, the boy's aunt.
