Officials and volunteers are searching for a 60-year-old man who went missing Saturday evening east of Placerville.
El Dorado County sheriff's deputies said the man was last seen around 5:30 p.m. near Wrights Lake. He was doing volunteer work on well-marked trails and was returning to his vehicle when he went missing.
Other workers at the site said they searched the trail after he did not arrive at the vehicle. They called the sheriff's department to ask for help around 6:30 p.m. Throughout the evening, over 30 deputies and El Dorado County Sherriff's Department volunteer search and rescue personnel searched the area.
The search continue on Sunday morning as a new group of volunteers and deputies were joined by mounted, ground and canine search units. U.S. Forest Service personnel and California Highway Patrol aircrafts are also aiding in the search.
Around 5:30 this evening, Lieutenant Tim Becker, a spokesperson for the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department, said he did not know the man's name and added that had not received an update from deputies detailing the search plans for the evening.
