Placer County sheriff's deputies said they have arrested a man who used Facebook to promote house parties where underage drinking was rampant.
Zachary C. Fischer, 19, was arrested on charges related to a large July 16 party in the 8200 block of Quartzite Circle in Granite Bay. When deputies arrived they found hundreds of young people under drinking age consuming alcohol.
Partygoers threw bottles at deputies when officers broke up the party. The person who lived at the home was arrested on suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of minors and one partygoer was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence as he left the gathering.
Deputies learned of another party planned for Aug. 3 that they said was also posted on Facebook. Deputies discovered that Fisher had planned and organized the July 16 party and was planning the Aug. 3 party in Loomis, according to a sheriff's department press release.
The Aug. 3 party posting on Facebook had 4,000 invited guests.
The press release said that it was clear in the two party posts that Fischer was the main party planner. Deputies allege that Fisher hired juveniles to tend bar, provide security and serve as DJs at the events, which promoted underage drinking.
Fischer was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of conspiracy and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
