The friends and family of a recent high school graduate from Rocklin who died in a motorcycle accident over the weekend will honor his memory with a candle light vigil Monday evening.

The candle lighting for Thomas Christian Daniels, 18, is set to start at 8:30 p.m. at Whitney High School in Rocklin, where he was a standout football player.

Daniels died after crashing his 2005 Honda motorcycle on Saturday evening. The accident occurred at 6:20 p.m. as Daniels was traveling west on Highway 193 near Newcastle. He crossed the double yellow line to pass another vehicle and struck at 2009 Dodge Ram pickup head on, said Nico Bonfilio of the California Highway Patrol.

He said speed was a factor in the accident, but the full accident report was not yet available.

Friends have created a Facebook page to honor his memory. Numerous friends wrote about his infectious smile, his good cheer and his workman-like attitude on the football field.
