A West Sacramento man has been sentenced to 335 years to life in prison after a Yolo County jury found him guilty of 47 counts of child molestation and five counts of possessing matter depicting sexual acts by a minor.
Michael Martinez was sentenced Friday by Superior Court Judge Janet Gaard.
On May 1, a jury found Martinez guilty of molesting a 7-year-old girl. Evidence showed that Martinez engaged in sexual acts with the child and used his cell phone to record the abuse, according to a Yolo County District Attorney's Office news release. The evidence at trial also showed that the cell phone containing the videos belonged to Martinez and was found in his pocket during a search.
The victim testified and identified Martinez as the perpetrator.
Martinez also took the stand during the trial and denied the conduct, officials said.
