Sierra College Athletic Director Tom Gang, 45, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of committing three acts of felony domestic violence.
Gang, who has been placed on administrative leave from his job, was arrested at his Auburn residence early Tuesday and booked on assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting corporal injury and false imprisonment, according to Placer County jail's online booking sheet.
He was released on $75,000 bail, said a spokeswoman for the Placer County Sherriff's Department.
Gang joined the Sierra College staff in 2011, replacing John Volek as associate dean of athletics at the Rocklin campus.
This is not the first time Gang has been accused of violence against women. In May 2011, Gang was accused of assaulting and verbally abusing a security guard at Mendocino College, where he previously worked.
Gang was cited but not arrested for that incident, in which he allegedly aggressively twisted security guard Christine Risch's arm during a verbal altercation.
Sue Michaels, a spokeswoman for Sierra College, said campus administration was still processing the information.
"There hasn't been any time for us to get the facts or gather the details," Michaels said. "What we are most concerned for is that the Athletic Department provides the best educational experience for our students."
Michaels herself was caught off guard by the information and said just this morning she and Gang had been exchanging tennis photos for marketing materials.
