Elk Grove police seek suspects in Holiday Inn Express robbery

Holiday Inn suspect 1 12-7882+1.jpgHoliday Inn suspect 2 12-7882+2.jpgThe Elk Grove Police Department is looking to identify three suspects in the recent armed robbery of a Holiday Inn Express.

Officers responded to the motel at 2460 Maritime Drive at 12:36 p.m. Aug. 11. They were told that two males (pictured) entered the business and approached an employee who was working at the front counter. One of the men brandished a handgun and demanded that the employee give him all the money in the cash drawer.

Fearing for her safety, the employee gave a portion of the money from the register to each of the suspects, according to a Police Department news release.

A third suspect briefly appeared in the lobby during the robbery. After obtaining the money, the suspects ran out of the building.

The first suspect was described as black, in his 20s, about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with white hood strings, gray pants, and white and black athletic shoes. He also reportedly had a black glove on his right hand and a blue glove on his left hand, and held a handgun in his left hand.

The second suspect was described as black in his early teens, about 5 feet tall with a slight build. He was wearing a black ski mask, black hooded sweatshirt with white hood strings, blue latex gloves, black pants, and black and white shoes.

The third suspect reportedly was wearing a hood with a yellow crew neck sweatshirt, black pants and gray athletic shoes.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Detective Bureau at (916) 478-8060, or Crime Alert at (916) 442-4357. Callers who contact Crime Alert can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Tips also can be sent via SMS text message by entering 274637 on a cell phone, followed by Tip732 and the message.
