Knives and swinging bats injure two in Woodland street fight

A late-night brawl in Woodland, in which combatants used knives and baseball bats, resulted in two injuries and four arrests.

Woodland police were called to a report of a fight with firearms about 11:40 p.m. Thursday in the 900 block of Fourth Street. Upon arrival, the vehicles were gone but officers were able to detain four young men walking away from the area.

The investigation revealed that three vehicles rammed each other near Fourth Street and Gum Avenue. A fight then began with bats and knives.

During the fight, police said that Arsenio Alvarez, 21, of Woodland was stabbed and Helidorio Hernandez, 28, of Sacramento, was hit in the head with a bat and stabbed in the head and back.

They were treated at the hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

The four detained earlier were eventually arrested for involvement in the assault on Alvarez and Hernandez. Those arrested were Tanner Green, 18, of Woodland, Sherdea Trejo, 23, of Woodland and two male teens.
