A man was hit and killed by a pickup in Woodland this morning.
The collision occurred near intersection of East Street and Lemen Avenue just before 8 a.m. Woodland police officers and firefighters found the victim lying in Lemen Avenue east of the intersection with a head injury. The driver of the pickup had stopped his vehicle nearby.
The man was transported by ambulance to the University of California, Davis, Medical Center in Sacramento, where doctors later said he had died of his injuries. The Sacramento County Coroner's Office has not released his identity.
Woodland Police Department spokesman Sgt. Steve Guthrie said that traffic investigators are unsure what caused the fatal collision but do not believe the driver of the pickup was at fault.
"There's no foul play on the part of the driver," Guthrie said.
